When defining consistency groups in RecoverPoint the compression setting is used to define how much data you want to compress before transferring to your offsite storage. If you have a slow WAN link then it is recommended that you use use a better compression setting on the slider bar. However, this puts a good bit of load on the processor of the RecoverPoint Applicance (RPA). Make sure that you don’t overwhelm the appliance’s ability to transfer the data.

For your initial transfer of data it is recommended that you configure the setting for best performance. The assumption would be to put the slider bar setting to 10 (to the far right.) However, EMC recommends using a setting of  8 instead of 10 for “OPTIMAL” performance.
