Recognizing that a highly skilled workforce is critical to growing Charleston’s knowledge economy, the Digital Corridor donates a portion of the proceeds from the annual iFive:K race to providing scholarships for students seeking education in a technology-related field. Each year, a portion of the iFive:K proceeds go to educate tomorrow’s innovators by providing scholarships, internships, public speaking engagements or other relevant workforce development initiatives through this scholarship fund. As a key sponsor of the iFive:K, eGroup was asked to help choose this year’s recipients.
The Charleston Digital Corridor Scholarship Award was presented on Monday, May 16th at 10am in the Atrium at ECPI College of Technology’s annual award ceremony. A student from both the Network Security and Electronics Engineering Technology programs were chosen by eGroup and fellow Digital Corridor Member Companies SLANT Media and BoomTown to receive this honor based on academic performance, attendance and a written essay.

eGroup is all about offering opportunities to improve the health of its employees. One of the new things we will be doing, beginning in Janaury, is a short group run/jog over lunch. Beginning Wednesday 1/5/2011 and on all Wednesdays in January, we will meet at 12:15 PM in front of Primetime Fitness on Sullivan’s Island for a relatively short run (jog/walk) of about 2 miles.

This year’s event will continue offering runners, walkers and shufflers the popular scenic race route, custom race t-shirts, cool prizes, team opportunities to vie for the coveted “Bragging Rights Trophy” and the much anticipated after-party at the Charleston Maritime Center on the harbor. (Charleston, SC) – In addition to eGroup being a corporate sponsor of The Charleston Digital Corridor Foundation’s third annual Innovator’s 5K run (iFive:K) on April 16th, 2009, eGroup employees once again came together as a cohesive team to take part in the fun. Open to runners and walkers, the iFive:K started and finished at the Charleston Maritime Center, with a post-race celebration immediately following on the harbor.
An official 6 member team comprised of Ben Gaddy, Mike Stokes, Will Turbeville, Liz Wilmes, Tal Lassiter, and Ken Turrentine represented eGroup under the name “Serious Competitors,” and raced their way to a 5th place finish out of the eight 6 member teams. Read more >>
