I’ve been struggling for a few months to find the answers to all of life’s questions… err.. I mean how to integrate an RSA SecurID soft-token with the VMware View iPad Client.
- PCI Compliance requires multi-factor authentication for remote access to your cardholder data environment. It’s also a good security practice if you use remote access.
- RSA SecurID is the most widely used form of multi-factor authentication, but there are certainly other options (Note: View only supports integration with RSA or RADIUS at this time).
- Users do not have to carry around a physical RSA keyfob.
- Users do not have to pull up the RSA app on their mobile device and remember the 8-digit token then fly over to the vmware view app and type in that code all within the 60- (or 30-) second window. That’s a little much for some folks to handle.
The intended audience of this technical post is your “all-in-one” administrator (like me) or a team of administrators across your compliance/security, VDI, or vSphere IT groups.

Midwinter in the Lowcountry is highlighted by both a busy schedule for both road races and oyster roasts. This year, the month will conclude with a “race & roast” (to benefit Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy) on the gorgeous trails of Oakland Plantation. So you may want to pencil this into your running schedule.
RACE & ROAST – 5K Trail Run and Oyster Roast
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. –The Race & Roast at Oakland Plantation is a 5K trail run and oyster roast benefiting the Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy (MPLC), sponsored by eGroup. The public can participate in just one or both events. It all takes place at the same beautiful location in Mount Pleasant starting at 12:30pm on Sunday, February 26th.
The inaugural 5K trail run will wind through the 132 acre forest at Oakland Plantation that is permanently preserved by a conservation easement held by the MPLC. The run will begin and finish under the avenue of oaks that line the main drive to this seldom seen private historic plantation. Registered runners will receive a race t-shirt and one complimentary beer ticket for the post event. The Race will begin at 12:30pm. Awards will be given out after the race to the top three finishers in each age category. Read more >>
Charleston, S.C. – November 10, 2011 – eGroup, Inc. was named as one of South Carolina’s Fastest-Growing Companies Top 25 winners for the third year in a row. The South Carolina Chamber co-sponsored the Fastest-Growing program with The Capital Corporation, a middle market investment banking firm located in Greenville, SC. The program recognizes an exceptional and diverse assembly of businesses from across the state. The ranking system tabulates results based on a combination of increases in gross revenue (or assets) and increases in full-time employment in South Carolina in the two most recently completed fiscal years.
“eGroup is honored to receive this prestigious acknowledgement, and it is truly humbling to receive it three years in a row” said Mike Carter, Principal of eGroup. “This award recognizes our company’s strategic approach to sound growth, and is a validation that the core principles we founded the company upon, and the dedication of our outstanding team members that embraced those values, have resulted in success and growth for our company in difficult economic conditions. I’m proud to be a part of a program that celebrates such an outstanding group of entrepreneurs and business owners who continue to rise to the top.”
“We would also like to acknowledge The Charleston Digital Corridor for the exposure they have afforded eGroup, and for their efforts to nurture & promote Charleston’s knowledge economy to help technology companies like ours thrive,” added Carter.
The executives of the Top 25 ranking companies were guests at the Chamber’s prestigious Annual Summit luncheon on November 10th, held at Wild Dunes Resort, Isle of Palms.
