So for the guys out there who have read a few of my blogs, they know that before I came to eGroup I spent 11 years on the customer facing side of IT, administering storage, VMware, Citrix, etc.. One of my roles during that time period was also managing antivirus on desktops and servers, a fairly critical task because no one wants to have a major virus outbreak. It was never a fun task though, DATs were a pain, so was versioning, and hoping that it was working and that it was actually updating never made you feel good! Well, as I made the jump to my new career at eGroup I had my eyes opened to a new world of technology that I had not been exposed to previously, one of those was Trend Micro’s Deep Security. As a VMware administrator I played around with different antivirus solutions trying to find one that didn’t impact CPU utilization on my hosts and virtual machines severely, if it was an antivirus solution I tried it at least once and yet all of them seemed to impact my VM’s CPU ranging from about 10% to sometimes closer to 30%. I always thought this was ridiculous and that there had to be a better way, well apparently the guys at Trend thought so as well and came up with a solution. Read more after the bump to see how it works! Read more >>
Microsoft just announced active exploits with no patch. eGroup would like to help you stay protected until a patch is available.
Microsoft advised that active zero-day attacks could allow control of a user’s system through its browser. This vulnerability in Microsoft XML Core Services affects all supported versions of Microsoft Windows, and Office 2003 and 2007.
Without a patch, no amount of time or money can protect you. Unless you have virtual patching. IDC recommends virtual patching as a successful strategy for controlling vulnerabilities. Available in Deep Security, virtual patching automatically shields Windows systems from new vulnerabilities until a patch is available. So you can afford to schedule your software patches after they are available and successfully tested.
Call us now to find out how quickly you can shield against active exploits. We recommend that you test the virtual patching capabilities in Deep Security.

Trend Micro 10.6
The proliferation of smart phones and tablets is at record levels, and no one sees them stopping anytime soon. With these new devices coming out everyday, remote access and potential for issues to arise will continue to increase as well.
Mobile Security will be a big focus for a number of companies as we shift in 2012, and Trend Micro is here to help.

As smart phones and tablets enter and traverse networks at record levels, IT administrators will have to find ways to ensure that devices accessing corporate resources are secure.
Look no further than Trend Micro Mobile Security.
There are 3 main technologies behind the security:
1. Walled Garden – essentially keeps network applications (email) completely separate from regular consumer applications
2. Remote Wipe – if the phone is lost or falls into non-company hands, it can be remotely wiped
3. Encryption – the contents of the phone can be encrypted and secure
As a plug-in to Trend Micro’s OfficeScan, organizations can quickly deploy the mobile security app to IOS (iPad & iPhone), Android, Windows, Symbian, and RIM Blackberry devices.
The devices can be remotely provisioned, encrypted and password protected. Remote lock, remote wipe, power-on-password enforcement, and location tracking are some of the key features that you will have at your disposal. Plus you’ll know that your devices will be protected through Trend Micro’s best in class cloud-based threat intelligence, Smart Protection Network, safeguarding against malware, viruses, malicious code and attacks.
Plus the app gives the smart phone user the ability to filter calls and messages. So if an unwanted user is calling and texting you, you can simply put them on the block list and move on.
The game has changed: Smart Phones and Tablets are omnipresent and being able to prevent enterprise assets from being at risk is key.
eGroup can help.
