Ran into an issue today where Symantec’s Live Update was not showing up an installed application on a backup server. I confirmed this as my attempt to run Live Update via Backup Exec pulled up this message:

 

Here’s a quick way to get Live Update back on the server, so you can run updates to keep Backup Exec up to date:

1. Go here LiveUpdate3.3

2. Download the program to a safe place

3. Run the program and you should get a “Live Update Installed Successfully” message

4. Re-open Symantec Backup Exec, click Tools, Live Update

5. And you should be all set with the Live Update Tool moving forward.
