Piedmont HealthCare provides medical care in Iredell Country with more than 90 doctors, 20 specialists and 40 locations. Piedmont Healthcare is one of the largest physician-owned and directed groups in North Carolina and the Southeast region.

Challenge:

The most recent and possibly most challenging issue that eGroup assisted Piedmont with was a severe performance problem related to the electronic health record system. eGroup dove into the issue and found that the organization was oversubscribing the virtual Citrix environment, which in turn caused severe problems for the end users. Had it continued, the issues would have severely limited or completely stopped the implementation of the electronic health record. The compelling event was the reduced effectiveness Piedmont’s providers had in providing services to patients.

Solution:

In addition to fixing the Citrix environment issue, eGroup provides engineering and data center design support along with strategic and tactical planning. eGroup provides support for VMware which has allowed Piedmont to keep pace with user needs while maintaining a smaller server and data center footprint.
