Starting 10/15/2025, new AVS consumption requires VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) licenses purchased from Broadcom.
Customer Impact & Deadlines:
- Existing AVS Reserved Instances: No change until renewal.
- PAYGO nodes: Must purchase RIs before 10/15/2025 to avoid price changes; otherwise increases apply 10/15/2026.
- Considering AVS: Acquire VCF licenses from Broadcom starting 10/15/2025, or purchase RIs ahead of the deadline. Pricing is expected to be higher; details pending. See the eGroup blog for guidance and mitigation strategies.

Azure
Azure: MFA Enforcement for Resource Management
Microsoft will require strong auth for management-plane operations with a deferral option.
- Mandatory MFA (10/1/2025): Enforcement for all Azure resource management actions begins Oct 1, 2025; tenants may postpone until July 2026. Admin actions: enable MFA, update Azure CLI/PowerShell, and use Azure Policy to assess impact and coverage.
Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft 365 Copilot: Apps Expansion, Agents, and Admin Controls
New end-user features and robust admin governance land across Microsoft 365.
- Copilot Chat in Office Apps (Free Rollout): Begins rolling out in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote for all M365 users with no extra license.
- Teams Intelligent Recap w/ Shared-Screen Content: Worldwide rollout by late September; requires M365 Copilot license.
